Business trips abroad. They always seem to excite me; it’s like I become a little child again before being taken away on holiday by my parents. The difference now is that it is entirely up to me to get all of the finer details sorted and to have to pack my own belongings. Something I used to dread doing!
My most recent business trip took me to New York to meet with a prospective client. I love New York! I have been so many times and on this most recent trip I was staying right near the Rockefeller Center - a place I had only seen from afar from before and I could not wait to get to the hotel and unwind before the big meeting. Is there much better feeling than after a long journey opening the door to a well decorated hotel room, dumping your luggage down and crashing on the bed for a few moments?
I travel for business quite a lot you see. I work in the sales industry and not only does it require me to fly regularly but I also use a lot of public transport too. Sometimes, I can end up being away from home for days at a time and travel the Globe hopping from hotel to hotel. I enjoy the lifestyle and it is something I wanted to do since I was a young boy. I think it was seeing my Father doing a similar job. Every day he would be dressed up smart, with a suit and tie on and a nice leather briefcase in his hand ready to head to his office. These images had a massive impact on my upbringing and I have been conscious of not only what I wear, but also what accessories I carry with me. I am a massive fan of leather and no matter what accessory I carry it must go with how I look - it’s just how I like to do business. Traveling to business meetings has become part and parcel of my life and is certainly an element I really enjoy. Seeing the World is just an added bonus to what I do for a living.
The issue I used to face when travelling away for business was that I never knew what to use to pack all of my weekend essentials. For a weekend away, it always seemed overkill to take a large suitcase. A suitcase of course has its benefits, however having to carry to the airport, check it in with security (which always seems to cost me more!) and then to drag it to the hotel is always such a long process. Suitcases to me just seem so cumbersome and aren’t the lightest of things to carry. Even those that have wheels on seem to trip me up and get in other people’s way. Let’s face it; whenever you are going away for just a weekend you never really need to take much: a couple of changes of clothes, toiletries, books perhaps, and items you many need for a business meeting. A suitcase just was far too much for me on these weekends away.
I was speaking to my colleagues about leather weekender bags for Men, and I was told to log on to satchandfable.com to see what they could offer. I certainly was not disappointed. The website was easy to use and I was able to find the right section for mens leather duffel bags, holdalls and carry-on bags. I was a little spoilt for choice and the range of duffel, carry-on bags was incredible. I eventually opted for an authentic handmade in Italy leather duffel carry-on bag in black.
When the bag arrived with me in the post it instantly wowed me with it’s quality. You can tell that the hold all bag was designed with the traveller in mind. It clearly could fit into the cabin of a plane and had enough pockets and storage to fit everything I would ever need for a weekend away; whether the weekend was to be used for business or pleasure!
On my first business trip using the leather duffel bag several weeks ago, my colleagues were all envious about the quality, what the bag could store and how effective the size was! Many of my colleagues were still using large suitcases and had to check those in with security whilst I walked straight on to the plane, found my seat and got myself comfortable. Even I was surprised at how much of my weekend needs were able to fit into this stunning duffel bag. It dawned on me in this instance as to how much money I had wasted on checking suitcases in with security and how much effort I had been putting into dragging them around, when all I really needed was this Italian Leather carry - on bag on my shoulder with my belongings safe and secure inside.
I have loved the bag so much that in between business meetings I have been using it as a gym bag and even just as a weekender bag for when I stay with friends or relatives. The quality of the workmanship means that I can use the bag as often as I please without having to worry about wear and tear or the bag falling apart. I kind of feel like I have a bag for life to be honest.
I started this blog post about my most recent business trip to New York. Well, upon meeting my colleagues at the airport it brought a huge smile to my face to see that they too had ditched their suitcases in favour of some gorgeous authentic handmade Italian leather weekend bags from satchandfable.com. They were feeling fairly smug when they too could walk straight on to the plane and put their hold alls in the overhead cabins next to mine! I wouldn’t have minded - but with my colleagues no longer getting held up at security I now had to fight for the window seat!

Along with the tighter clothes, I seem to be carrying more and more each day. My wallet is always filled with cards, cash and other other bits and bobs. My mobile phone is not the smallest piece of equipment either, and my keys are bulky and really irritating when storing in the pockets of some tight trousers. And do not get me started on the case for my glasses. There has to be a solution to carrying around all of this bulky gear, right? Even for us fellas?
